Start a trip

Tell Beacon where a vehicle is going. It works out the distance left and the arrival time, marks the trip arrived when the vehicle gets there, and can send progress updates to your system.

Webhook signing key

Every update is a JSON POST with the headers X-Beacon-Timestamp and X-Beacon-Signature: sha256=<hex>, the HMAC-SHA256 of timestamp + "." + body with this key. Check it before trusting an update.

Connect your AI assistant

Create a key for your assistant (ChatGPT, Claude, an in-house agent). It can only see the phones you tick, only in this company, and every read is logged.

How to connect

ChatGPT (custom GPT)

Create a GPT, open Configure then Actions then Create new action.
Choose Import from URL and paste:
Authentication: API key, type Bearer, and paste the assistant key.
Add the instructions below to the GPT.

Claude, Hermes or your own agent

Base URL , header Authorization: Bearer <assistant key>. The full API description is at the OpenAPI link above.

Instructions for the assistant

You can see our company vehicles through the Seidr Beacon API.
- listDevices: the vehicles you may see.
- getDeviceStatus: moving, stationary (since when) or offline, and the last position.
- getLatestLocation / getLocationHistory: where a vehicle is and has been.
- listTrips / getTrip: where a vehicle is going, distance left and arrival estimate.
- startTrip / cancelTrip: only when a person asks you to.
Give times in South African time. Say when a position is old. Never guess a location.
