STARTUP DEEP DIVE · TEST BUILD 0.7.8

A clearer way to
read your startup.

Use this guide to explore an entry, understand what the app knows, and make a supported change you can reverse.

Start with a scan

01 / FIRST LOOK

Begin with the entry, not the switch.

Open Startup Deep Dive as your normal Windows user. Once the scan has finished, select a row to read its explanation and location. Use search, category and state filters to narrow the list; click a column heading or use Sort to change the order. Press Ctrl+F to focus search or F5 to scan again.

Control offered finds entries for which this build offers an action. It is not a list of recommendations, and Windows can still refuse a change. Open Show scan issues in More options if the scan reports that it could not read something. Select Show technical details for more fields, or choose Search web and review the terms before confirming a search.

02 / COLOURS AND STATES

A clue is a reason to investigate.

Red · investigate

A stronger review clue was found. Read the evidence; it is not a malware verdict.

Gold · review

The registration deserves a closer look. It may be legitimate and important.

Unknown

The app could not establish the state. Unknown does not mean enabled or disabled.

“No basic flags” means the app’s checks found no listed clue. It does not prove that an item is safe. A current-account location tells you where a registration is stored; it does not prove who created the software or whether it is essential.

03 / RESOURCE NUMBERS

Read the labels closely.

CPU at scan and RAM at scan are snapshots of matched processes, not a measurement of how long a registration delayed Windows startup. CPU is expressed relative to one logical processor and can exceed 100%. RAM is working-set memory and can include shared pages. A path match does not prove that the registration started that process. File size is the size of a resolved file, not necessarily the whole application.

Windows boot warnings in More options may show historical process durations recorded by Windows when the log is available. These are selective warnings and are not a boot-impact score for every row. If access is denied or no warning is present, no conclusion about impact follows.

04 / MAKE A CHANGE

Change one known item at a time.

  1. Choose an entry you understand and read its details, location and review evidence. Investigate unfamiliar entries first.
  2. If the app offers Disable, read the confirmation and make the change. Wait for the result and refresh the scan to inspect its state.
  3. If a change causes a problem, select the supported disabled entry and use Enable where offered. Keep the app's local recovery records: supported registry and Startup-folder changes use them, but scheduled-task changes do not use the same recovery journal. If recovery reports a conflict or interruption, follow the message rather than assuming it succeeded.
Scope matters. This test build can change supported current-user Run/RunOnce entries, current-user Startup-folder files and scheduled tasks where Windows permits. A task change affects all of its triggers. Services, drivers, computer-wide entries and several other categories are read-only. A program may also start through another route or recreate a registration.

Ending a running process is a separate action. It can close unsaved work and does not disable a startup entry.

05 / YOUR INFORMATION

Know what stays on your PC.

Scan history is saved locally by default and can contain account names, paths and commands. In More options → History & privacy, you can pause future history; existing history and recovery records remain. Scan comparisons describe observed differences; they are not the recovery journal. Review exports before sharing.

Update checks contact Seidr Labs but do not send scan or recovery data. A web search sends the displayed search terms to the search provider after you confirm. See the privacy notice for details.

06 / GET HELP

Still unsure? Ask before changing it.

Use More options → Help & about in the app, write through the contact form, or email info@seidrlabs.online. Do not post a full scan publicly without reviewing it for private information.
