Effective 30 October 2026. Applies to Flora Basic (Google Play) and Flora Advanced (this website).
In short
Flora works on your phone. Your memories, face profiles, reminders and settings are stored on your phone and are not sent to Seidr Labs. Flora sends information over the internet only for features you choose: an AI service you connect with your own key (including screen text when you ask her to read your screen), an optional online voice, your own Flora server, or a report you send us. One thing is on until you switch it off: the phone’s natural online voice (see below). Flora has no advertising and no analytics.
Two editions
Flora is published by Seidr Labs in two editions. This page covers both and says where they differ.
- Flora Basic comes from Google Play, and Google Play updates it.
- Flora Advanced comes from this website, is installed by cable, and updates itself from this website. It has a few extra features (a contacts lookup, ChatGPT sign-in, your own Flora server and hub), a few settings that are on by default where Basic has them off, and it lets Google’s ML Kit send usage statistics. Each of these is marked Advanced below.
What stays on your phone
- Your AI service keys and server address, stored encrypted.
- Face profiles of the people Flora recognises, and their names, stored encrypted. Camera pictures are processed on the phone; the most recent picture you asked Flora to look at is kept in the app’s cache.
- What Flora remembers (facts, past conversations, people), a rolling conversation log, timers and reminders, saved places for location reminders (their coordinates), the pantry list, your settings, and any offline AI or speech models.
- Flora turns off Android backup and phone-to-phone transfer for all of this, so it is not copied to a cloud backup.
Uninstalling Flora removes this data from the phone.
What leaves your phone, and when
On unless you switch it off
- Natural voice (both editions). To speak her replies with a natural voice, Flora lets your phone’s text-to-speech engine (for example Google’s) use its online voice. That engine then receives the reply text. Lines Flora marks as private, such as message previews read out to you, are never sent this way. Switch Natural voice off in Setup and the phone’s offline voice is used.
- Android’s speech recognizer (Advanced only). In Advanced, Android’s own speech recognizer is on as a backup for hearing you; it may send your voice to Google. In Basic it is off. You can change it in Setup.
- Daily check for new AI models (Advanced only). In Advanced, Flora asks OpenRouter once a day for its public list of models. The request carries no key. In Basic it is off. You can change it in Setup.
Only if you set it up (both editions)
- An AI service you connect with your own key. The service you choose (for example OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, xAI, Mistral, Groq and others listed in Setup) receives your key; what you say or type; the recent conversation shown on screen; the name of the person Flora recognises; related things Flora remembers; the phone’s time and time zone; simple phone states (charging, moving, light); and a camera picture only when you ask what Flora sees. While a key is in use, Flora also sends a conversation turn and related memories after a chat, and once a night while charging the day’s conversation and memory list, so the service can help her learn and tidy her memory. That service’s own privacy policy applies.
- Dictation by OpenRouter. A recording of each sentence you speak (up to 26 seconds) and your key go to OpenRouter.
- Live voice. Your microphone audio for the whole session you start, and your key, go to OpenAI.
- ElevenLabs voice. Reply text, the chosen voice and your key go to ElevenLabs.
- Android’s speech recognizer (Basic). Off by default. If you switch it on, your voice may go to Google.
- Model lists. A request for the list of models goes to the service you connected, with your key only for services whose list needs it.
- Offline AI download. A download request goes to Hugging Face when you tap download.
- Pictures you ask Flora to show, and camera snapshot addresses you save. A download request goes to the website or camera at that address.
- Network tools you run (find cameras or devices, check a host, read your router). Discovery and status requests go to devices on your own network, or to the host you enter.
Only if you set it up (Advanced only)
- ChatGPT sign-in. Instead of a key you can sign in with ChatGPT; the same kinds of data go to OpenAI as with a key.
- Your own Flora server or home hub. The address you type receives a pairing code, then what you say, your settings, simple phone states, a picture when you ask, and an access token. Once a hub is paired, Advanced also offers shared memories, a lost-phone feature and a Stop button that work through that hub; whoever runs the hub receives the data those features need. Flora can only pair with an https address.
- A private update feed. If you type your own update address in Setup, Flora checks that address and not this website.
Phone control and message previews
Both are optional and off until you allow them in Android’s settings. Basic first shows you a Flora screen that explains what the feature reads and asks you to tap Allow (or Not now) before sending you to Android’s settings; Advanced sends you straight to Android’s settings. You can switch either off at any time in Android Settings.
Phone control (“Flora hands”, an Android accessibility service)
- It lets you work your phone by voice or typing: open apps, go back, scroll, tap a button you name, type text you dictate, read the screen aloud, search your WhatsApp chats and follow a Google Maps trip.
- Flora reads the text and buttons on the screen of the app in front of you only while carrying out a command you give, and skips password boxes. While it is on, Android also tells her which app is in front, which she uses to place her small floating face and to cancel a tap that was waiting for your yes if the screen changes.
- The floating face is off until you switch it on in Basic. In Advanced it is on by default and you can switch it off in Setup.
- When you say “read my screen” and you use an AI service with your own key, up to 1,500 characters of the visible screen text are sent to that service for a short summary. Otherwise screen content stays on the phone, is spoken with the phone’s offline voice, is not added to Flora’s memory and is never sent to Seidr Labs.
- Every action starts from something you say or type. In Basic, a reply from an AI service cannot start a phone action. In Advanced, a reply from the AI service you connected can also start one. In both editions Flora asks you to confirm by voice before pressing a button named like Send, Pay, Buy, Order, Delete, Call, Share, Install, Allow or Confirm, and never types into password boxes.
Message previews (“Flora message previews”, Android notification access)
Android lets an app with this access see every notification. Flora reads them only when you ask about messages, and then only the notifications showing at that moment from Telegram, WhatsApp, Signal, Gmail, Outlook and Messages (title, sender names, message text and times). She reads nothing while the phone is locked and keeps no copy in the background. The summary is spoken with the phone’s offline voice and is not sent to your AI service, to the online voice or to Seidr Labs, and is not added to her memory. Flora does not open chats, mark messages as read, reply or dismiss notifications.
Calendar and contacts
Calendar (both editions)
- Flora can read your upcoming calendar events (title, time and place only, never who is invited) and add an event, but only when you ask, and only after Flora reads it back and you say yes.
- She does this only while the phone is unlocked, and answers on the phone.
- Calendar details are never sent to the AI service, never logged and never stored in her memory.
- Android asks for the calendar permission the first time a request needs it. Basic first shows a Flora screen that explains it (Allow or Not now). If you say no, Flora tells you what she could not do.
Contacts (Advanced only)
When you ask Flora for a contact’s number or email, she looks up that name in your contacts and tells you. The same rules apply as for the calendar: only when you ask, only while the phone is unlocked, answered on the phone, never sent to the AI service, never logged and never stored in her memory. Basic has no contacts feature and does not ask for the contacts permission.
Reporting a reply
Under each Flora reply there is a Report button (both editions). If you send a report, Flora sends it to Seidr Labs (seidrlabs.online) over an encrypted connection. It contains only: that one reply, the reason you picked, your comment, the email address you type (so we can reply to you), and the app version. Nothing else from your conversation is sent.
Our website keeps the report (name field, email, subject and message), a scrambled (hashed) form of your internet address and the app’s technical identifier (its user agent) to prevent abuse, allows three reports an hour from one address, and sends us a notification copy of the report through Telegram. We use your email only to reply to you about the report.
Updates
- Basic: Google Play updates the app. Flora itself never looks for or installs updates.
- Advanced: Flora looks for updates by asking this website, at
seidrlabs.online/flora/latest.json, which tells her the newest version. Like any web request, this lets the website’s server see your internet address and the app’s technical identifier in its normal server logs. Flora checks that a downloaded update is the right app, the right size, and signed with Flora’s own key, and Android asks you before installing it. If you typed a private update feed in Setup, Flora asks that address instead.
Google components
Flora uses Google’s ML Kit to find faces and label scenes on the phone. Google’s terms say ML Kit does not send the pictures or results to Google. ML Kit normally also sends Google usage statistics. Basic removes the setting that tells it where to send them, and our own tests on one phone saw no such connections, but we cannot rule out every route. Advanced does not remove it, so in Advanced ML Kit may send usage statistics to Google.
The hand-gesture feature uses Google’s MediaPipe on the phone. It is off by default in Basic and on by default in Advanced. If you allow location for location reminders, the location comes from Android’s location service, which follows your phone’s own settings.
Sharing with other apps
- If you ask Flora to play music or a video, or for directions, she opens YouTube, YouTube Music or Google Maps with your request.
- If you export diagnostics in Setup, the file goes to the app you choose. It can contain recent conversation text and memories; Flora masks common passwords and keys but cannot catch everything, so review it before sharing.
Permissions Flora asks for
- Microphone: to hear you.
- Camera: to recognise you and to look when you ask.
- Location (only if you set a location reminder): to notice when you arrive or leave a saved place.
- Calendar: to read and add events when you ask.
- Contacts (Advanced only): to look up a number or email when you ask.
- Notifications: for reminders and the notice that Flora is running.
- Alarms & reminders (optional): for on-time reminders; without it they may arrive a few minutes late.
- Accessibility service “Flora hands” and notification access “Flora message previews” (optional): described above.
- Install and battery settings (Advanced only): to install her updates when you agree, and to ask Android to keep her reminders running.
Flora keeps running in the background with a visible notification so reminders and her memory stay available.
No ads, no analytics
Flora contains no advertising and no analytics. It sends Seidr Labs nothing unless you send a report, or (in Advanced) it asks this website for an update.
Your choices
- Switch off Natural voice, remove AI keys, and turn optional features off in Setup at any time.
- In Setup, “Forget everything” erases her memories, the people she knows and the chat history. You can also forget one person, forget your own face, and remove each key.
- Uninstalling Flora removes what she stored on the phone.
- To ask about or delete a report you sent us, use the contact page below.
